Hospitality

Hospitality in 2010 is about welcoming our neighbours – and welcoming the world. During the Olympics we provided warming stations, internet cafes, mobile food and beverage services, and big screen viewing areas. The scope of our Olympic-style hospitality is as big as our collective imaginations. There were - and continue to be - lots of fun ways to help this area.

IF YOU ARE LOCAL and want to volunteer for upcoming events and opportunities, please go through our volunteer registration process byClicking Here. Missions Teams are geared more towards people who do not live locally. Locals can be a part of Missions Teams, but they need at least two people to join and they must pay the $75 registration fee. However, if locals register to volunteer by Clicking Here, they do not have to pay the Missions Teams registration fee (this only applies to those who live locally).

If you are not local and still want to get involved, please Click Here to visit our Missions Teams page and join us there!

Hospitality Kits
Monday, November 23, 2009 - 5:35pm Hospitality

The Hospitality Kit project is coming along well with more than 1000 kits already packed and ready to go out in 2010. We still need lots more supplies to be donated to these kits, and we need your help in advertising this need in your organizations and churches. You can download Powerpoint slides, Bulletin inserts and handouts here to distribute to your community networks and support this hospitality initiative. Read more

Upcoming Foodsafe Training
Friday, October 30, 2009 - 1:22pm Hospitality

The Northshore Salvation Army will be running a BC Foodsafe Certification Course on Saturday 14 November from 9am-4pm. The cost is $25 per person, about 1/3 the cost if you were to do the course elsewhere. This is great training for the 2010 Games outreach, but also good skills to have for anyone who is involved in food preparation and service. If you are interested in registering for the course, email Peter DeFehr at nscommunityministries[at]telus[dot]net Read more

Hi Don! It is great to hear that your church are planning these hospitality events. We are planning on posting a "How To" guide on this page in the next couple of days, please keep an eye on the "Files" box on the right. Feel free to email us if you have questions after going through that document.

I'm trying to find information on how to run a large screen event. Our church in Richmond wants to do that in the hall and I remember that was one of the suggestions from More Than Gold...however I haven't been able to find anymore information on it. Same idea with the internet cafe...is there going to be more information on these opportunities later?
