For all the volunteers….we want to express our deep appreciation for the amazing job you did during the Olympics/Paralympics in extending radical hospitality to our city!  For all your hard work, and positive attitudes, and gracious service…for working so well with flexibility and harmony….for contributing so significantly to the collective Christian witness…thank you!  For all those who prayed, and served and pursued justice…and worked collaboratively during this important season – thank you!   You rock!  And the leadership of the network is forever grateful!

A taste heaven!

It took more than one church, more than one denomination or parachurch agency.  The breadth of efforts mobilized by the Christian community during the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics required the diversity of the ONE church in the Lower Mainland.  We pursued what we could only accomplish together. These outcomes are a result of choosing to seriously and graciously link arms to work together in harmony.  What a taste of heaven!  (read more)

The future:  Let’s keep the good works growing

MTG is planning for ways to find expressions to collaborate together – and to continue to encourage radical hospitality. The network will continue to morph to a more ‘organic’ structure. Stay tuned!

 For now, to assist you in initiating service, please note that the following are available for your efforts:

 Hospitality

  • The Salvation Army will make available the refreshment backpacks for use to groups that organize service efforts in public spaces (hockey games, street festivals, etc). Inquiries should be directed to Sharon Tidd (Sharon_tidd@can.salvationarmy.org) for now.

CaPA

  • Anyone wanting contact with artists should feel free to contact Russ Rosen. (russrosen@mac.com )

Sports

  • Anyone interested in sports outreach of any type, from camps to speakers, to the Life Series DVD should contact Dave Klassen at Athletes in Action. (davek@athletesinaction.com).

Also watch for opportunities to join in the efforts of Fusion (with community festivals) and YWAM for walking the streets to offer free prayer.
